Fforst-workshop
Each semester we hold a fforst-Workshop. fforst Workshops are mandatory, meaning that it is desired that all fförsterss come, specially new fförters, because it helps a lot everybody to get to know each other better. If someone can’t participate due to personal reasons, it is expected that the person shares this information with other fförsters and specially with the board and workshop organization team.
The idea behind the workshop is to revive the fforst spirit in our community, work on team-building, get to know each other better, integrate new and old fförsters and brainstorm for the planning of the new semester.
The workshop takes place either in our fforst-house or in another location. Generally, we prefer to do it outside our house because our experience indicates that a neutral place offers other possibilities for reflection and allows us to have another perspective on the issues we talk about during the workshop. Besides, being in another place is always nice, specially if we are surrounded by nature.
The workshop is a duty of the board, meaning the board is responsible for its realization. However, that does not mean that the board should organize it itself. The board should take care that the workshop is being organized. This means that the board should call for a group that is going to work on the workshop organization.

How to organize the fforst-workshop?:
Do you want to organize the fforst-workshop? Here you will find some guidelines that need to be taken into account:
1. Build a Workshop Organization Team
2. Find a location where the workshop could take place (see the list of locations)
3. Plan the activities of the workshop (get together; energizers; content activities)
4. Plan the meals (see a previous workshop meals organization)
5. Make the shopping list
6. Make the AStA application (see the specific requirements for workshops)
7. Develop a Workshop Program (see example)
8. Distribute the tasks among the fförsters (i.g., who will do the shopping; who will prepare the meals; who will help transporting stuff to the location, etc.)
9. Send the program to all fförsters (make sure you explained how to get there)
10. Ask for the fförsters solidarity contribution
11. Make the workshop AStA-Abrechnung
When planning the program please take into consideration that it is important to have a good balance between content and “free time”.
For the content, it is suggested to set some goals for the semester or to work with current issues or ongoing “problems” that need to be solved either in the short-term or mid-term.
Normally, not all fförsters can stay for the entire weekend there and they might leave earlier and so on. Since buses/trains work with less frequency on weekends, it is tradition that we try to find a place that could be reached by bike so everyone can come and go easily.
Best Practices
A. Normally we ask for a solidarity contribution of ALL fförsters for the workshop. The idea behind that is that since it is a mandatory event for all of us and the core event of our project for each semester, we need that it takes place, and therefore we need the contribution of all members. Usually people are asked for 15 EUR; and those who can not attend for 10 EUR.
B. During the Workshop a list of participants with their signature is required for the AStA Abrechnung. Please be aware of doing this.
C. Find different responsible persons for the different tasks (e.g., one/two for the bon-fire preparation; a group for each meal preparation; a group that helps with the organization of the activities; etc).
D. Try to integrate everyone into the discussions.
E. Try to document the activities (in last workshop we did minutes of each activity to have a documentation of the discussions).
