Initiative Market / Initiativenmarkt

From fforst
Jump to: navigation, search

At the beginning of each semester the University organizes an initiatives market, in which students have the opportunity to get to know the initiatives better. This is a kind of fair in which all the initiatives and organizations of the University have a stand, so all new and old students can get to know those initiatives, subscribe to their newsletters and also check the events planned for the semester.

The event takes place normally from 11:00 till 14:00 h. in the main hall of GD (building where the mensa is).

Since fforst is one of those initiatives, our project is always invited to participate.

How to organize the stand for the Initiativenmarkt?

BEFORE THE EVENT:

1. Prepare the stuff for the stand:

Make sure you have all the materials required for the stand:

-fforst banner

-fforst stickers (to give away)

-fforst merch (to give away)

-matches boxes (to give away)
-fforst book

-fforst notebooks (to give away)

-fotos
-flyers of the project and of Women Café, and of the upcoming events

-zirsch

-fforst old lamp (as decoration)

-alcohol for shots + shot glasses (if you want to)

-board to write down the upcoming events
-newsletter list

Note: Remember to ask during the assemblies if all posters and flyers of upcoming events have been printed already. If they haven’t, make sure they all be ready before the Initiativenmakrt takes place.

Also if there are stickers or something missing make sure it’s gonna be ordered and received for that date. (e.g., fforst flyers, fforst-stickers, fforst notebooks)

2. Shiftslist:

You should make a shiftslist taking into consideration that the more fförsters that participate, the more visibility our project gets during the event.

The shiftslist should have at least:

- 1/2 persons organizing all what we need for the stand
- 2/3 people bringing the stuff

- at least 2 persons per 1.30/2 h shift.

- 1/2 extra persons for talking or speeding flyers and shots?

- 2/3 people to take the stuff back to fforst

DURING THE EVENT:

During the event it is important to talk to people and encourage them to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, also to subscribe to the newsletter and to tell them about our project.

1. You can learn the following speech:

“We are an international house project and cultural centre just 500 meters away from the university. The project started in 2006 when in Frankfurt Oder there were a lot of empty buildings about to be demolished. So, a group of students together with professors decided to start a project and to get one of those buildings and open a place where students could leave differently, internationally and to bring Poles and Germans together. This was to encourage also students from Poland to live in Frankfurt because for them to pay for the doors of the Studentenwerk was more expensive and they always stayed in Poland.
Today this German-Polish idea got bigger and our house became and international project where people from all around the world live together and work together.

The idea behind the project is to offer payable rents for students and young people in the city center. We are a self-managed project, which means that it is a house run mainly by students and young workers, for students and for the people of the city. We make different kind of events to sustain and finance the house such as: parties, culture evenings, movie nights, concerts, readings, etc.”

While you explain all these, you can show our flyers or the fforst book. In the fforst book you’ll find some pictures of the house as it was at the beginning of the project. Those are useful to explain how the hose was and how we renovated it.

2. You can also encourage people to apply for a room explaining them that we expect engagement, so if they are willing to do a project and learn how to run a culture centre or how to work in PR or how to organize events, or they have any idea they would like to develop, our house is the perfect place for that.

3. It is also important obviously to invite them to our upcoming events: the next party, the next women café

AFTER THE EVENT:

You need to take everything back to fforst.

You should also hand over the PR-Ressort the newsletter subscription list, so the can add the new interested people to the distribution list.

Report the assembly how the event went.
